Sunday, March 17 2013, fire burnt down more than 600 houses, mosque, and schools at Pedongkelan area, East Jakarta. There were no casualties reported from the location. Based on the information, the fire came from one of the houses at district 6 then spread out to district 7. One of the schools burnt down was the one owned by Yayasan Bintang Pancasila – YMMI’s NGO Partner in a program with CitiPeka. From a teacher’s information who has been teaching for 23 years said that there were 126 students from pre-school to elementary level (only until 5th grade) that survived the fire. They have no place to learn and they have to face a semester test on that time. YMMI donated fund to re-build the schools and also school kit for the students there. |
